Why R&R Socials?
In anticipation of our upcoming R&R Social in March, I thought it'd be a great opportunity to share the vision and motivation behind our desire to organize and host these events.
Last spring, Hons and I spent a lot of time discussing new ideas and creative outlets. Some were grand and lofty, while others just seemed silly (although if anyone's down to open a 24-hour dim sum place, please contact us!). But one idea that we kept coming back to was gathering with friends (new and old) and sharing awesome food, drink, and experiences together. It's not a new idea but it's tested -- people throughout history have been sharing laughs and creating memories over meals for a looooooong time. So we thought to ourselves, why couldn't we do this and just be more intentional about making it happen?
As San Francisco natives, we're fortunate to have built a great community of friends and are really grateful for the friends our daughters have already made, too. And as urban parents, we also have access to some of the finest restaurants, museums, and cultural events a city like San Francisco has to offer. None of this needs to stop just because we decided to start a family and raise children.
Maintaining who we were before kids is, in many ways, just as important as discovering who we need to become after kids. Sure, lifestyle changes and adjustments have to be made (goodbye, spontaneous weekend trips and sleeping in past 7:00am!), but simply losing ourselves to parenthood isn't a healthy option. In fact, sharing our interests and sense of adventure with our kids helps them to discover their own. Finally, Hons and I also know (and definitely need to do a better job at it ourselves) that regular date nights/days are crucial to the health and excitement of our marriage.
So when all of these thoughts started to form and take shape, we decided to combine our love of community, adventure, great food/drink, artisanal goods, art/culture, and, of course, our beautiful San Francisco Bay Area, for purposes of organizing and hosting unique social events as often as time permits. Some will be for the entire family, and others will be just for parents and couples to get a little "R&R" from the routine of everyday life.
But most importantly, we're just so excited about the direction of Rhythm Reverie. What started out as a simple place to post and share bits of our family life is now expanding to include others in our community.
And there you have it -- that's how R&R Socials was born!
Our next R&R Social will be Saturday, March 10th, from 10:30am-1:30pm at Fig & Thistle wine bar. We'll be pouring organic wines and juices, performing live demonstrations of delicious appetizers, and having a grand old time! And we know it's not a party without some party favors, so everyone attending will receive a Vin Horizontal Tote by Aplat, a bottle of Perlage organic sparkling wine, and a mason jar of organic orange juice from Sow Juice SF (a total retail value of $75).
Click here for full event details and to purchase tickets ($65 each). Don't miss this opportunity to make new friends and join the Rhythm Reverie family! We look forward to seeing some of you there and can't wait to share these new experiences with you!
